Welcome to the first ValleyGlow blog post. The idea for this blog began when my husband and I moved to the Mad River Valley, and I began looking for places to practice and teach yoga. Relying on Internet searches, word-of-mouth recommendations, and community bulletin boards to find yoga classes, I was disheartened to discover more than once that a teacher I heard about was no longer teaching or a highly-recommended class no longer existed. Eventually I saw a free Sunday Community Yoga class at the East Warren Schoolhouse advertised in The Valley Reporter and so one cold, gray morning I journeyed down East Warren Road with a friend. Neither of us had ever been to the East Warren Market before and we drove right past the building and into downtown Warren looking for a “schoolhouse.” By the time we made it up the stairs to the space above the market, we were late. We had no idea who was teaching or what to expect. To me, that first Community Yoga experience has come to reflect the uniqueness of yoga in this valley, and I mean that in the best possible way. I will write about these unique and wonderful qualities in upcoming weeks.
Now approaching my fourth year in the valley, I feel blessed to be a part of the yoga community as both an instructor and student. With this blog, I hope to share resources and information regarding classes and yoga-related events, but most importantly bring light to the Mad River Valley yoga community so that we may continue to build and grow.
